We chat with the model and social media influencer while she spends some down time in her LA home during quarantine.
If you don’t already know model and social media influencer, Kara Del Toro then you would most definitely recognise her golden locks and glowing skin from the Bali Body social feed. Kara, a Texas native, started modeling when she was just 15 years old in Milan, Hamburg and New York before falling in love with the city of dreams and making Los Angeles her home base. She’s a small town girl with big dreams that has managed to stay humble and grounded throughout every career milestone. Here we chat to the animal loving, meditation obsessed model on work, beauty and what she has learnt during quarantine.
What is the best thing about beauty?
I love that beauty is such a unique and personal thing. Everyone is beautiful in their own way. I also love that beauty can be a fun way to express yourself, through things like makeup or changing your hair color, it can be a fun way of showing your personal style.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
I've traveled to some of the most beautiful places in the world and have met so many wonderful people along the way.
What has been the biggest ‘pinch yourself moment’ in your career to date?
I dreamed of being a Guess model when I was younger. So I'd have to say my Guess campaign with J. Balvin. There were Billboards for the campaign all over the world, it was a big pinch me moment for sure.
What advice would you give younger girls, aspiring to be a model?
Don't take no for an answer, I was told NO many times, by many people and I didn't let it stop me. A positive mindset is everything. It's important to surround yourself with people who believe in you and lift you up.
What is your favourite Bali Body product to use any why?
I love the Ultra Dark tanning Mousse, I use it before every photoshoot. It's the darkest, yet most natural fake tan I've ever tried and it never streaks. I also love the Face Tan Mist, it’s clear so you can put it on under your makeup and a natural looking tan will develop and leave your cheeks looking sun kissed!
What do you think you have learnt during quarantine?
How important it is to take care of yourself and spend time in nature. I also realize that I normally work and travel so much that I don't have any actual hobbies, so I told myself I'm going to start painting.
What is your favourite place in the world and what makes it so special?
Positano, Italy. It's such a magical place. I went with my mom last year and we had the best time. I can't wait to go back. I also love The Exumas in the Bahamas. I've been a number of times and I am always blown away by how clear the water is.
Your favourite motivational quote is?
Energy over effort. I believe in the law of attraction and that the energy that you put towards something is so much more powerful than the physical effort that you put toward it.
