What base colour is the Violet Express?

Violet Express features a violet-based self tan. Violet undertones are ideal for anyone seeking a deep, olive finish, as they help neutralise yellow and orange hues to deliver a rich, chocolate-toned result.

What is the difference between the Ultra Dark Express and the Violet Express?

Ultra Dark Express is formulated with a green-based colour guide, which appears on application but does not reflect the final tan. This green tone may be more noticeable on lighter skin tones, but it develops into a natural-looking glow and works to balance red undertones for a bronzed finish. Violet Express, on the other hand, uses a violet base to achieve similarly deep results with a more olive-toned payoff.

How long should I leave the Violet Express on for?

Violet Express can be worn for between 1 and 3 hours, depending on the depth of colour you’re after. Leaving the tan on for longer will allow it to develop darker.

Does the Violet Express dry quickly?

Violet Express is an aerated foam that absorbs faster than traditional tanning mousses. This results in a quick-drying application and a lightweight, touch-dry finish.

Is this self tanner made with natural DHA?

Yes. Like all of our self tanners, Violet Express is formulated using 100% natural DHA.

What natural ingredients are in the Violet Express?

The Violet Mousse is enriched with skin-loving ingredients including niacinamide, glycerin and vitamin E.

Can I apply multiple layers of the Violet Express?

Yes, Violet Express can be layered to build your desired level of colour. Typically, 1–3 layers per application are recommended for optimal results.

Can you use the Violet Express self tanner on your face?

For the face, we recommend using our Face Tan Mist. The Bali Body Face Tan Mist is a skincare-infused self tanning formula specifically designed to gently and evenly tan the face and neck.

How to guide

Step 1: For an even streak free tan, exfoliate prior to application, moisturise any dry areas including elbows, knees, ankles and feet.

Step 2: Shake well. For best results, apply using a tanning mitt in long sweeping motions, starting at the ankles and working your way up. Then move towards your back and apply in the same motion. Ensure all areas are covered before lightly gliding any excess tan from the mitt over your hands and feet.

Step 3: Wash off after 1 hour for a light-to-medium glow, or leave on 2–3 hours for a deep, dark tan. Pat dry and allow skin to fully dry before dressing.

    Probably the best self tan

    Im in doubt between the clean gel and this one. I would say this might be the best self tan I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried a lot…) and the clean gel makes the fake tan to last more. Definitely will repurchase again.

    I don’t give 5 stars as 1hour is not enough for me to get the tan I like. Better keep it for 2 hours.

    just pure perfection

    The most natural undertone self tan color i have ever tried. The result looks like I have been soaking in the sun in Greece for two weeks. The orange / yellow and green tinted self tanners have been such a problem for me previously and this is the first one that ACTUALLY looks like i have been in the sun. So easy to apply and not messy at all which i love. Also doesnt leave a bad self tanner scent after i washed it.

    Great colour in very little time - does what it says o the tin!

    slapped it on without much care and was pleasantly surprised too get an even beautiful tan! Really did give colour in the hour. I actually slept over night and it was a real nice medium colour. I had imagined I was going to be really orange in the morning but just a great colour. My skin did feel a little dry in the morning so I probably will not do that again but is so handy if short of time.
